Donn PattendenIllustrator

Donn honed his drawing skills as a pencil animator at Walt Disney Animation Australia (DisneyToon). At the same time, he had the opportunity to study classical drawing at the renowned Julian Ashton Art School. After leaving Disney, he lived in Japan for three years, where he studied ink painting and calligraphy. The influence of these formative experiences can clearly be felt in his work. Attention to detail, humour, solidity and strong posing are all hallmarks of his style and point-of-view. In 2009, Donn won the People’s Choice Award at IA’s Annual 9×5 Exhibition. He was a also a finalist in the inaugural Illustrators Australia Awards, with his popular work “Sushi-zume (Packed in Like Sushi)”. Donn is now represented by The Drawing Arm, a subsidiary of The National Grid.
